Flap is dental technique that involves Removal of the inner aspect of the diseased gum, with the help of a surgical instrument It is a deeper version of the curettage.

Why is flap needed?

  • Flap helps remove the dead gum tissues, which otherwise can lead to frequent bleeding, infection, bad breath, and loss of underlying jawbone. The removal of this dead tissue aids in development of healthy gums. it is commonly carried out on people with advanced gum disease

Is the procedure painful?

  • Depending on the severityof the case, local anaesthesia can be administered to avoid any discomfort, rendering the treatement relatively painless.

How long does the procedure last?

  • The procedure requires two sittings in the case of a full-mouth flap. the procedure is first completed in one Half of the jaw before starting with the other. flap procedure of each half lasts for 30 minutes

What does the procedure comprise of?

    Flap can be a 4 to 5 step procedure depending on the severity of the case.
